Summer is here!
Ferrin's trail |
We had enough rain and then a fantastic heat wave to really pop out the colors. Wildflowers are everywhere and walking the trails is simply magical. I almost feel as though we are trekking through the jungle!
We have 3 great families spending the summer with us. This is Gaylia's 5th summer, Rosemary's 3rd summer and we are happy to welcome Jan and Dave for their first summer. They have 2 adorable granddaughters and it is very nice to meet their family.

Happy Easter!
Kona has the biggest Easter egg! |
Spring melts the snow, the grass is waking up and getting ready for summer. We had a mini Easter egg hunt for Leo and Sam.
Good find Sam! |
The fun thing about this age is that you can keep hiding the same eggs and they are none the wiser!

October -- Early Halloween
Super hero getting ready for Halloween |
We love our spot of land here in downtown Jackson. The people that find us need a place to stay for a few months or more while they finish up a job, visit their grandchildren, or simply explore Jackson Hole.
A family moved in for 6 months, needing a temporary place while finishing up a job. A family with 1 dog easily fits in on our property. When you have a big kid to connect with and share the excitement of your new Halloween costume, it doesn't matter that it is only October 1st! Why wait until the 31st to show your super powers!

Dinner, a bear and a nice drive
It seems my posts are now yearly? Well -- after an amazing winter we are now back into spring mode. I'm heading out to the grocery store this morning to pick up some oranges for the western tanager that just visited the yard, head down looking for the treats we have out every year! Sorry, I wasn't ready for you.
My sister her family have been here for the week. We took a wonderful drive to Signal Mountain Lodge for dinner last night. On the way we encountered bison, elk, pronghorn, and a bear! This sweet bear was on a search mission, sniffing everything around the String Lake parking area. Thankfully, the garbage cans are bearproof!
Our units are booked through August with return guests. We are so grateful for the families we get to share our space with.

July Already?
Resident bison herd on Mormon Row, Grand Teton National Park |
I should probably always end the title of my posts with "already?". My last post was about winter 2013, and we are well into summer, already booking into winter 2014! Our guests have traveled from Arizona, Virginia, Mississippi and Georgia so they are completely happy with the 80 degree days and cool 50 degree evenings. I hear a chuckle when I mention how hot it is! The wildflowers are amazing, the rivers are running fast, and the wildlife have been kind enough to show themselves on drives through the valley.
We have both return and new guests this summer. We met a few new pets this year, including a very friendly conure! We have had 3 guests that are here for extended stays, visiting their children, yet wanting their own space. It has worked out perfectly.
Full velvet deer, grazing on the side of the road, Grand Teton National Park |
It is so nice to share the valley with people from all over the world. My aunt and her friend recently visited. We went on an amazing wildlife drive through Grand Teton National Park. We saw deer, bison, moose and a beaver! (and no elk, we had to wait for Yellowstone for that, who would have thought!!) The next day, we had a wonderful trip to Yellowstone. We stopped at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone and saw rescued bears and wolves before heading in to the park. I love the west entrance to Yellowstone. Following the river to the Madison Campground is unbelievable!
